The Motilal Nehru College (Evening) advocates the empowerment of women and has zero tolerance for sexual harassments. The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the college remains vigilant to look diligently into the matters related to sexual harassment. Complaint boxes are placed at three different places in college for the reporting of grievances. Boards containing details of all members of the Committee which includes student representatives are has been placed and their details are displayed on the college website. The college also nominates a faculty member to look into complaints relating to ragging. The college administration has remained vigilant and thus no complaints had been received regarding ragging in the college premises. The Staff Advisors to the Student Union worked closely with the student body, dealt with issues through a consultative process with students and focused on finding solutions for contentious issues. The students’ grievances includes infrastructural issues. Students complain about inadequate lighting during the late evening and near the stairs. The necessary actions are taken to address the grievances ensuring lights with two-way switches, both at the top and the bottom of the staircase was installed. Another grievance that came up, was with respect to providing more space for students to put up posters, relating to events that were happening outside the college. Students felt they should be allowed to display such posters freely on any of the college notice-boards. It was pointed out to the students that displaying posters of events that were not under the supervision of the college could be problematic as students may led to believe that those events were endorsed by the college. Another issue that came up was with regard to allowing students to remain on campus, for their extra- curricular activities practice, from morning/day shift of the college. It was explained to students that there were security issues in allowing students to remain on campus without the presence of the staff of the morning college. In order to ensure a robust and efficient mechanism for redressal of grievance related to sexual harassment, the college constitutes Internal Complaints Committee on the lines prescribed by UGC. Following is the list of committees formed in the recent years to look into such matters.
